?‍? Presidents' Day Emojis

President’s Day is a national holiday in the ?? United States dedicated to the President of the country. It is celebrated annually on the third Monday of ❄️ January.

The idea of the holiday originated in 1880 when the ? Birthday of George Washington was first officially celebrated in honor of his memory as the first President of the United States. Soon this holiday gained popularity and scale and became a state holiday. Its main tradition was the pronunciation of ? Speeches from famous public and state figures at a solemn ball.

The Americans themselves unofficially began celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s birthday back in 1865. After all, Lincoln was the president who was able to unite the southern and northern states of the country, divided by the civil ⚔️ War. And also, it was he who abolished slavery. These were significant events for the country, therefore, in honor of Lincoln, the Americans celebrate this holiday.

In 1971 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, and the holiday was shifted to Monday. At the same time, President Richard Nixon proposed to rename the holiday Washington’s Birthday to President’s Day and celebrate it in honor of all US presidents.
